The most important property of the camu camu fruit is its extraordinarily high Vitamin C content, as it can have concentrations as high as 50,000 ppm or about 2 g of vitamin C per 100 g of fruit. That means that the camu berry provides 50 times more vitamin C than an orange which usually only has around 1,000 ppm of vitamin C. As a result it is often used in prevention and treatment of flu and colds and to strengthen the immune system. Camu camu flesh is also rich in antioxidants and is a good anti-aging substance.
